Course will provide the skills necessary to evaluate loads, select the appropriate hitch and hardware for performing the lifting of loads. Participants will learn techniques to perform daily inspections, assess rigging safety and properly communicate with other riggers and to ensure overall safety during material handling/lifting processes. Those attending this training will learn operating principles, operational safety, load control methods, inspection procedures, communications and load handling techniques. Training includes hands-on activities involving rigging and moving loads.

Course consist:

  • legislation about working gear (no. 703 of Norwegian Labour Inspection)
  • rules and legislation of HSE in crane lifting operations
  • accident causes at work with cranes/ lifting operations
  • risk assesment at work with cranes/lifting operations
  • rigging equipment
  • slings inspection
  • rigging rules
  • lifting capability/tonnage for various slings types
  • communication with crane operator, signaling
  • maintenance and inspection of working gear
  • behavior in face of accident

Training audience

All personnel preforming rigging duties.
