Target group

All people who work on or with personnel-transporting platform lifts.

Training duration

The course for categories A+B consists of a seven-hour theoretical component and a four-hour practical component.If the participant provides documentation that confirms they have 25 hours’ practical experience in the use of platform lifts, they are therefore exempt from having to undertake the practical component.

The course for categories A+B+C consists of an eight-hour theoretical component and a six-hour practical component. If the participant provides documentation that confirms they have 50 hours’ practical experience in the use of platform lifts, they are exempt from having to undertake the practical component.

Training method

Classroom course consisting of theoretical and practical components. It is possible to complete the theoretical component in a virtual, live classroom.

Certification

A person who completes this course receives a certificate in the form of a plastic card with a photograph, documenting that they have training in the safe use of platform lifts (“Personløftere”), valid for an indefinite period.

Prior to issuing of original certyficate in form of a plastic card, acredited instructor will issue a Temporary Certificate authorizing commence of employment.

 

Norwegian Lift Course

Lifting platforms for the transport of personnel provide support for installation work, maintenance and access to heights above two metres.  In order to operate these lifts legally, personnel are required to have the appropriate certificate.

The Norwegian name for the training course is: “Personløftere”, and the Norwegian qualification symbol is PX.

The course consists of the following topic units:

  • current H&S regulations
  • accidents while using lifting platforms
  • lifting platforms – construction and operating procedures
  • stabilisation of lifting platforms
  • the area surrounding lifting platforms
  • types of lifting platforms
  • inspection of lifting platforms
  • safety procedures and H&S regulations while operating lifting platforms
  • an examination

 

In accordance with Norwegian law, the course gives you authorisation to use 3 categories of lift, of the following criteria:

Category A – trailer-mounted lifts and scissor lifts

Category B – low-speed, self-propelled lifts

Category C – vehicle-mounted lifts
